The Lella & Massimo Vignelli Office of Design and Architecture was founded in 1960 in Milan. The firm focused on furniture, product, and graphic design for prominent Italian and European companies such as Olivetti, Penguin Books, Piccolo Teatro, Pirelli, Poltronova, Triennale, Venice Biennale, and Xerox. The first assistant of Vignelli was Salvatore Gregorietti, who became another leading Italian graphic designer himself. The firm closed in the late 1964 to establish Unimark International.
