Title
Knoll au Louvre

Designer
Massimo Vignelli

Firm
Vignelli Associates

Year
1971

Client
Knoll

Medium
Catalogue

Size
29×29 cm

Notes
A wonderful exhibition catalogue of Knoll’s furniture. Entirely set in Helvetica. Knoll’s logotype – also designed by Vignelli – runs across the front and back covers, thus generating a visually powerful solution that made the catalogue an iconic piece of graphic design history. The visual strength is also emphasized by the contrast of scale in text sizes, and the use of typography’s three classic colours: white, black, and red which in this case is Vignelli’s super warm red.

The company’s giant logotype set across the whole cover, the bright background color, and the minimum of elements make it one of the most iconic and visually powerful covers ever.

A French edition of the catalogue was also published under the title “Knoll au Musée.” (Pictures of the inside pages will be uploaded soon.)
