A wonderful announcement designed by Carboni for Barilla’s 1952 catalogue. It’s an excellent example of “pure” graphics, that means it only uses graphic or typo-graphic means to communicate and nothing else, trying to achieve the maximum of meaning from a minimum of means by just enhancing the potential of graphics alone.

And in fact, despite being a work of illustrative graphics which can be hardly considered a piece of methodic design, it features great synthesis thus communicating with great clarity and visual strength.

It also perfectly portrays something which is still recognized to be Barilla, thus revealing the fundamental contribution given by Carboni to the company’s image through his seminal work, that consistently evolving through the years informed Barilla’s communication up to this day.
