Notes
Vignelli designed all the Piccolo Teatro playbills from season 1964/65 to season 1967/68. The names of all the people involved—from actors to propmen—were set in the same size for the first time ever on a playbill, thus enhancing the contributions of all of them and not just the actors. The use of red and black was functional to communicate the different location where the plays was given—red for the Piccolo Teatro and black for the Teatro Lirico. In 1969 Vignelli was substituted by his former assistant, Emilio Fioravanti, who took charge of all the Piccolo Teatro’s graphic communication. [NMM]
