Notes
A bright and impactful poster for Fondazione Napoli 99 (Naples NinetyNine Foundation), a cultural institution founded by Maurizio and Mirella Barracco, who in 1984-86 commissioned a series of 24 posters to some of the best known graphic designers of the 80s with the purpose to promote the cultural identity of the city.
The poster by Milani is one of “the newest – a blue sky, like in a detergent advertisement, but the laundry this time is made with coloured letters, clipped stick-letters (…) hung on a washing-line” (Arturo Carlo Quintavalle).
Milani ‘literally’ cleans up the city by putting his name out to dry, thus producing a wonderful work for both its aesthetics and cultural value.
