An illustrated book cover about the fight for the rights of African-Americans portraying a black punch that squashes Uncle Sam’s hat. Subtitles read: “Struggles. The program of black labourers.”

The illustration is simple but visually effective and the squashing of the hat is graphically rendered in a very interesting way by alternating the sequence of red and white stripes. The choice of letting both the hand and the hat to move out from the cover’s surface increases the sense of dynamism.
