Notes
A beautiful catalogue designed for an exhibition related to Giorgione’s Castelfranco Madonna (c.1503), which is representative of that graphic genre that was typical to Italian art publications, characterized by the elegance of images, the emphasis on details of the artworks, and the rigorously structured typography.
The cover is particularly well designed thanks to the relationship between the image—which is almost graphical thanks to the strong magnification—and the title, which is elegantly set, tight tracked, and positioned marginally to allow the image dominate the composition.
The three-column grid on which the entire catalogue is structured reveals itself already on the title page. Inside, an interesting study on the geometric-structural composition of Giorgione’s artwork is reproduced. [NMM]
